Who is Danitalia?
Danitalia was started in 1998 by me, Elisabeth Hjorth.
I am born in Denmark, but have lived in Lucca, Tuscany since 1991. After some years of assisting friends and acquaintances in finding holiday homes, I came upon the idea of helping other Danes experience this unspoiled and less touristy part of Tuscany. The appropriate arrangements were made and the Danitalia Agency for Rental of Holiday Homes was born. Our market has since expanded to many other countries than just Denmark.
The philosophy remains the same. We inspecting the houses personally as if we were selecting them for friends and acquaintances.

Do you have a catalog?
We do have an online catalog showing all the properties we offer in Tuscany, Umbria, Sicily. Feel free to look it through but we also urge you to contact us for advice. We have seen all the properties and we have long experience in giving advice. Please tell us what kind of living arrangements you are looking for, when your vacation is, how many you are etc, and we send you non-binding offers on homes that are available during the requested period and which best fulfill your requirements.

What happens if I cancel?
Should you be unable to enjoy your vacation please inform us by mail as soon as possible.
We refer you to our rental contract for our cancellation policy.
We encourage you to buy cancellation insurance.
When should I arrive at the house?
The rental period usually goes from Saturday to Saturday, though you may be able to make other arrangements in the low season or for certain properties live city apartments.
Arrival time is usually between 3:00-5.00 PM. Departure time usually before 10:00 AM after checking out with the owner or his/her representative. The precise information will be confirmed in you voucher/ driving description. Any desired changes should be agreed upon in writing.
When you arrive at the house the owner or his/her representative will meet you, give you the keys and explain any particulars about the house. You will always be able to contact Danitalia’s offices if need be.
Whom do I contact if I am late?
If you know beforehand that you cannot arrive within the official arrival period, you will need to let us know in writing. Should you be delayed underway we ask that you to call us so we can let the owner know. Danitalia’s phone number is on the driving directions to the house.
When and how do I receive the directions to the house and other info?
The adress and driving instructions to your house will be send to you by mail upon the final payment, usually 40 days before arrival.
Other information about concerts, restaurants, courses, factory sales, excursions etc are online accessibile on the reserved page area. After your first payment you will receive instructions about how to access including your personal password.

Are towels and bed linen included in the price?
It is indicated in the description of the house, whether then bed linen and towels (not beach towels), utilities, and cleaning at departure are included or not. Should these expenses not be included then you must always pay directly to the owner.
In most parts of Italy the government has now implemented a “Tourist Tax” which is to be paid on the spot, to the owner or in the reception. There will be no other obligatory expenses added to the price.
What is the Tourist Tax? Shall I pay it?
Many Italian municipalities have introduced a minor tourist tax, which must be paid by those staying in accommodation directly to the owner / manager of the property. The amound varies from area to area.
In many cases, the amount is calculated only for the first few days and only for children above a certain age. The amount have to be paid locally to the owner / manager and can not be paid to Danitalia.
Is the house equipped for children?
Most houses are equipped with cot and high chair for children but they must be ordered in advance. In some cased the owner will request a small amount for this.
Can I expect expenses over and above the price?
Any extra expenses (f.ex. heating) will be indicated in the description of the property. Please see our note above regarding tourist tax.
There will be no other obligatory expenses added to the price.
On arrival, you will be asked to leave a cash Euro deposit with the owner. The amount of the deposit will depend on the size of the rental house and you will have received information about it with the directions to the house. The deposit offsets any damage incurred to the inventory in the house, and it will be repaid on departure if the house is found in good condition.
Can I bring pets on holiday with me?
Pets are allowed only in some properties and provided they have been registered at the time of your confirm of reservation.
Any eventual extra charges for the stay with animals are indicated in the confirm.
Can you arrange for rental of a car?
We are specialized in arranging holiday home rentals, but we can give you advice on weekly car rentals.
Can you take care of all travel arrangements?
We are specialized in arranging holiday home rentals. As far as flight arrangements we can offer you advice on which are the best connections, but you must arrange to buy your own ticket. Please see our link page.
If you wish to travel by train we can advise you of arrival and
departure times, but once again, you are responsible for the purchase of the tickets at the train station.
