The Italians have a long tradition of being gourmets and they like to run many miles to get to a particular eating place that can give a unique taste experience. Often, the decision-making on where you go is, "what do we want to eat" - then the chose og the restaurant which prepares these commodity best.
In the autumn we are driving from Lucca to the Garfagnana to eat "funghi" / mushrooms - in the summer we go to Versilia coast to eat fish while the supply of local trattorie in Lucca is wide, if you wish to taste homemade pasta, soups, grilled meat and other local specialties.
The local products you just must taste during your holiday are the real italian espresso coffee, the cold pressed olive oil which is the most important ingredient in all Tuscan dishes, the many pasta dishes with delicious sauces, our DOC registrated red- and white wine. The bread which is eaten fresh with every meal and when it gets dry we add it to many dishes as the "Panzanelle" bread salat made with onions and tomatoes, "Pancotto" which is a bread suop etc.
Especially in the Lucca and Garfagnana area you will taste "Farro" - a wheat variety grown in the mountains and used in salads, bread and soup.
There is the "Buccellato" cake which is like a sweet bread spiced with anice and raisins.
If you book a holiday through Danitalia you will receive a restaurant list where we organize tasting menus. A gastronomic experience which is greatly appreciated by our guests.
